How we test, where to get data sheets, and how to store and handle aluminium powder.
Test methods
Each property in the data sheets is measured to a named method.
| Property | Method |
|---|---|
| Free aluminium content | IS 438 |
| Particle size distribution | Laser diffraction (Malvern / Sympatec) |
| Wet sieve analysis | ISO 1247 |
| Dry sieve analysis | IS 5461, ASTM B214 |
| Apparent density | ASTM B417 |
| Surface area (Blaine) | ASTM E204 / ASTM C204 |
| Hydrogen evolution (AAC grades) | In-house method, 25°C, 16 min |
Data sheets
CSV files open in Excel. Safety data sheets (SDS) and certificates of analysis are supplied on request.

Storage and handling
Storage
Keep in the original sealed container in a cool, dry, ventilated place away from moisture, acids, alkalis and oxidisers. Keep containers closed and off the floor.
Handling
Ground and bond equipment. Use non-sparking tools. Avoid dust clouds, ignition sources and open flames. Wear gloves, eye protection and a dust mask.
Fire
Use Class D extinguishing powder or dry sand. Do not use water, foam or carbon dioxide on burning aluminium powder.
Aluminium powder is carried as a dangerous good. See the SDS for classification and full guidance.
